BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A 28-year-old Baton Rouge man has been indicted on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in the July 25 shooting death of his girlfriend and wounding of her 11-year-old niece.

East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore tells The Advocate he plans to meet with family members of the victims before deciding whether to seek the death penalty against Devon Terrell Livous in the slaying of 28-year-old Raolatu Alowonle.

Livous is accused of killing Alowonle and shooting her niece in the leg while the woman and girl walked on the sidewalk.
