BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — An East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury has indicted a 22-year-old man in the March 1 shooting death of a 23-year-old pregnant mother of two.

The Advocate reports Elijah Smith of Baton Rouge was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder in the death of Kayla Selders.

Police found Selders dead in the driver's seat of her car. A 32-year-old man, identified as her boyfriend, was sitting in the passenger seat at the time of the shooting. He was shot in the shoulder.

The grand jury also indicted Smith on an attempted second-degree murder charge.

It could not be determined whether Smith had an attorney.
