Man Pleads Guilty To Make More Than 40 Bomb Threats

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A man accused of making more than 40 bomb threat calls in a one-week timespan in August 2013 pleaded guilty to the charges.

The New Orleans Advocate reports 31-year-old Jahvar Hooks admitted to making the calls Tuesday in federal court. Police say Hooks used an out-of-service cell phone and local pay phones to make the calls to several places, including the Orleans Parish Criminal District Courthouse, Municipal and Traffic Court building, an elementary school, hotels and casinos.

Hooks pleaded guilty to a charge of maliciously conveying false information. He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 6 by U.S. District Judge Lance Africk.
