MONROE, La. (AP) — A 22-year-old man has been sentenced in the 2008 attempted murder of two Monroe police officers.

Gilbert M. Tyler of Monroe was convicted last year on one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree murder.

The News-Star reports state District Judge Wendell Manning sentenced Tyler on Tuesday to 50 years hard labor on each count. Those sentences are to run concurrent.

Monroe police officers Jared Desadier and Stephen Snowberger were dispatched March 29th, 2008 to an apartment complex in reference to a domestic dispute over keys. When they tried to arrest Tyler, he ran and several shot were fired. He was arrested later that same day.

No one was injured in the shooting.
