Man Wanted On Three Warrants Arrested In St. Mary Parish

A deputy patrolling the Four Corners area in St. Mary Parish was arrested around 4 o'clock Sunday morning for having three outstanding warrants and other charges.

A deputy conducting a traffic stop on Highway 318 pulled over a driver and started talking to the passenger, 37-year-old Carlton Melancon.

The deputy says Melancon was wanted on several warrants, and then he found the man with a small bag of marijuana.

He was booked on several charges including:

• Two warrants for failure to appear on the charges of criminal neglect of family
• A warrant from Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office for traffic violations
• Possession of marijuana, 3rd offense
• Possession of drug paraphernalia

No bail has been set for Melancon yet.
