Lafayette Police Corporal Paul Mouton confirms to KPEL news that N.P. Moss Annex was put on lock down for a brief period of time this morning after an officer spotted a man with a gun on the campus.

Other officers were called just after 9:10 a.m. when the man was spotted walking on the campus with a firearm.  The only description police have of the suspect is that he was a black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt with khaki pants. The suspect fled by climbing into a late model Chevrolet pick up truck.

Mouton says they have very limited information right now as the investigation and search for the suspect continues.  He says they are not yet sure whether or not the armed man was looking for someone in particular or why he was at the school at all.

While the school is no longer on lock down, the resource officers remain on that campus.
