Many Schools Closed Today Due To Weather – Sand Bag Information

Schools in several parishes will be closed today due to the weather. With worries over so much rain in the last several days and what is predicted for today, St. Mary, St. Martin, Iberia and Vermilion Parish schools will be closed today.

Sandbag Information - Lafayette

Sandbags are available for self-bagging as of 6:30 this morning at these locations:

The LCG North District Barn at 130 Shantel Road ( old landfill )

The LCG South District Barn at 1017 Fortune Road

Sandbag Information - Youngsville

Sandbags for the elderly and disabled are available at the Sewer Plant facility on Highway 734.

There are three other sandbag facilities that you must bag the sand yourself:

The Horse Arena on Highway 734

The Youngsville Police Station on Fourth Street

The Maintenance building on Highway 734

Sandbag Information - St. Landry Parish

Sandbags will be provided by the St. Landry Parish Government for St. Landry Parish Residents until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday. You can pick them up at the Yamilee Building on 1939 West Landry Street in Opelousas behind the Yambilee Building in the open hut.

Sandbag Limit: 10 per household (Please bring a shovel)

Sandbag Information - New Iberia

Sandbags are available at the public works building on Fulton St. from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.
