This is some Mardi Gras footage filmed by my Uncle L.J. back in 1954. Some of it was taken on Canal St. and some in the French Quarter. I don't know anybody in the clip but I just assume it was just random filming. I was only 2 yrs old when this was taken. I didn't realize that you could take home movies in color back then!

All of my family's old movies were lost in Hurricane Katrina because they were stored in boxes on the floor of a closet, below the flood line, so I especially enjoyed seeing this old video from Stephen Elmer (of Elmer's Candy Company.) My big brother filmed the Warren Easton majorettes a lot for some reason... ha!
