It will be a wet day today, but the parades will roll in Lafayette.  King Gabriel's parade is set to begin in downtown Lafayette today at 10 a.m. followed by the Lafayette Mardi Gras Association Parade at 1 p.m. and the KADN/KLAF Independent parade which is scheduled to roll at 2 o'clock this afternoon.

Lafayette City Parish President Joey Durel joined Jeremy Lawrence on Your Afternoon Drive Home yesterday to remind revelers to be prepared for wet weather.  He suggest umbrellas, hats and anything else that will help you battle showers.

Lafayette Police Corporal Paul Mouton wants to remind everyone that will be enjoying the parades today that they need to leave all glass containers and pets at home.  He also suggests that parents pin their information inside of their child's clothing in the even that they get separated.  He says there will be police officers along the entire parade route starting in downtown Lafayette all the way to Cajun Field.

At Cajun Field today, there will be rides, music, games and all parades today will end up at the Festival De Mardi Gras at Cajun Field.  The music, rides and games will continue even after the final parade ends.

Mouton also wants to remind revelers to remember that little children will be in attendance for all the parades.  He cautions adults to watch out for children, and to help them enjoy a safe and happy Mardi Gras.
