GRETNA, La. (AP) — A 22-year-old Marrero man has been convicted in the shooting death of a Terrytown man.

A Jefferson Parish jury convicted Michael Davis of second-degree murder Thursday in the Oct. 12, 2009, death of 18-year-old Reginald Anthony.

Davis' brother, Jerry, also was charged with murder in the case, as one of two gunmen who fired at Anthony. But on the eve of trial last month, prosecutors dismissed the case after he spent three years in jail on a $1 million bond.

His public defender Robert Louque Jr. told The Times-Picayune Thursday the same witness identified both Davises as shooters. But Louque said he still hasn't been told why prosecutors dismissed the case his client.

Michael Davis faces mandatory life in prison for his conviction.
