Marrero Woman Shot, Wounded By Sheriff’s Deputy
MARRERO, La. (AP) — A Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputy shot and wounded a Marrero woman who allegedly injured another deputy with her vehicle while trying to elude arrest.
The sheriff's office says 28-year-old Christina Mores faces two counts of attempted murder of a police officer following her release from a hospital, where she was being treated for a gunshot wound to her arm.
A deputy who tried to arrest Mores during a traffic stop Friday night was treated for minor injuries after Mores allegedly struck her with her vehicle twice.
The sheriff's office says Mores drove off but was stopped a second time roughly two hours later. Mores allegedly tried to escape again and knocked another deputy to the ground with her vehicle. The deputy fired two shots, hitting her once.
