Maurice Man Killed In Abbeville Shooting

21-year-old Davian Layne Bessard of Abbeville is accused in an early morning murder Monday in Abbeville.

Bessard is behind bars on one count of 2nd Degree murder after 22-year-old Jeremiah Cartrell Walker of Maurice was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds. Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon tells ours news partners at KATC that the two did exchange gunfire before Walker died.

A 17-year-old female ended up going to the hospital after being struck with a projectile from Walkers gun but has since been released.

Bessard's bond has been set at $500,000.00.
