The Loreauville Family Fun Day & Mayor Al Memorial 5k Walk/Run will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2017.

This year’s event includes family activities: the 1-Mile Croc Walk, bounce houses, food, music and fun  for the whole family.

From the Cajun Timing website:

On Good Friday, April 3, 2015, we lost our beloved Mayor Al in a tragic car accident. His family and his town of Loreauville were left heartbroken. At the time of Mayor Al's untimely death he was serving as Chairman of the "Project Nouvelle Acadie" or the "New Acadia Project". The Project is a publicly-supported effort to discover and study the home sites and unmarked graves of the Acadians who settled in South Louisiana and established what is known today as Acadiana - the homeland of the Cajuns. Mayor Al's deep passion for the Project was rooted in being a direct descendant of Joseph "Beausoleil" Broussard, the very first Broussard to have traveled and settled in present day Iberia Parish. Our efforts are to raise money to help this publicly funded project continue their research.

The event takes place on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Loreauville Park, 601 Ed Broussard Road in New Iberia, La.

The Saturday, April 1 schedule is as follows:

  • 7 a.m. - Race day sign-up/packet pick up
  • 8:30 a.m. - 1 mile croc walk (fun walk)
  • 9 a.m. - 5k run

Loreauville family fun day will start after the race until 2 p.m.

Registration for the race is $25 and the fee includes a t-shirt and goodie bag. Late registration is $30. It is free for children ages 1-4. Packet pick-up is available Friday, March 31 from 3 - 5 p.m. at Loreauville Town Hall (103 S. Main St., Loreauville, La.)
