LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — McNeese State University says an 880-space parking garage will have a digital counter on each level to let students know how many parking spots are still available.

The American Press (http://bit.ly/KMCj4e ) reports that the three-story, $12 million garage is expected to be complete in late February or early March.

Facilities director Richard Rhoden says 100 high-definition, color cameras will be installed all over, including elevators and stairwells, and will be monitored and recorded by campus police.

Rhoden said the university also hopes to get a smartphone app to tell students see how many spaces are available before they get to campus.

The new structure will have five entrances and exits leading into on-campus streets.
