If a Melville woman gets her way, and enough signatures, then there would be a recall election for Melville Police Chief John McKeel.  Melissa Montgomery is one of the people leading the petition process, and she says she has a personal issue with the chief.

Montgomery says that the chief has failed to investigate threats and attacks to her family members, and she believes he needs to be removed from office.

Montgomery says their work has paid off as they already have 250 of the required 360 signatures that they need to force a recall election.

As for Chief McKeel, he says everything is business as usual.  He says things are working just a smoothly now as they have for the past sixteen years that he has held the job.

A completed petition with at least 360 signatures is needed by 4:30 p.m. on December 13th is a recall petition is to go forward.
