PAGO PAGO, American Samoa (AP) — Nearly a hundred people gathered on a ferry off the coast of American Samoa for a memorial service honoring the Indiana teenager who died and his father who is missing after their plane crashed during an attempt to circumnavigate the world.

The body of 17-year-old Haris Suleman was found shortly after the crash in the Pacific Ocean on Tuesday. U.S. Coast Guard officials say they're suspending the search for Haris' father, 58-year-old Babar Suleman, though the family says they are holding out hope he is still alive.

Haris Suleman had hoped to set the record for the fastest circumnavigation around the world in a single-engine airplane with the youngest pilot in command.

Among the attendees Sunday were the lieutenant governor of American Samoa and several Suleman family members.
