The "keen eyes" of Acadia Parish Sheriff's deputies are being credited in the arrest of 24-year-old Trevor Soileau of Mermentau on weapons and narcotics charges.

“These deputies were patrolling their assigned zone (in the Mermentau area) at 1:15 am, when they located this suspect lurking through property of people who were sleeping," says Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson. "We are uncertain as the exact intent of Soileau, but the keen eyes of these deputies stopped this individual beforehand."

Deputies say they noticed Soileau allegedly trying to hide behind a residence but was eventually caught with illegal narcotics (Temazepam and Methocarbamol which are schedule I & IV narcotics) and a stolen Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun.

Soileau was booked for Illegal Possession of Stolen Property, Illegal Carrying of a Firearm, Possession of Schedule I & IV Narcotics and booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.
