Former KLFY meteorologist Dick Faurot is calling it a career after delivering 41 years worth of weather forecasts.

Faurot is retiring from Tulsa's CBS affiliate KOTV—a station he joined in 1993 after serving as chief meteorologist for 18 years at KLFY TV 10 here in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Faurot made the announcements via his Facebook page.

I vividly remember how excited we would get when Dick Faurot would visit our school. Our trips to McDonald's were never complete without picking up a 'Color The Weather' sheet, and we would be glue to his forecasts to see who would be the lucky winner.

In addition to the colorful weather contests, Faurot is also best remembered for his fishing forecasts and his coverage of numerous hurricanes in the south Louisiana area that kept us all informed during the storm.

KATC TV 3 chief meteorologist Rob Perillo posted a heartfelt message about Faurot—a man he refers to as his mentor. Rob also shared a pretty funny story.

Best of luck to Dick Faurot as his countdown to retirement begins!
