At Sunday night's Miss America pageant, Miss Colorado did something we've never seen before. Kelly Johnson is a registered nurse. She surprised everyone by walking onstage in scrubs and sneakers for the talent competition. Contestants customarily perform a song, and or dance while wearing an elegant gown. Miss Johnson, instead performed a brief monologue about an Alzheimer's patient. She said the relationship she developed with "Joe" helped her remember why she became a nurse in the first place. The crowd response was wildly enthusiastic. Miss Johnson didn't win the crown, but she has clearly won many hearts.
