KENNER, La. (AP) — Kenner police serving a search warrant at the home of a woman were surprised to find her four children, ages 10, 7, 3 and 2, home alone.

Police tell The Times-Picayune, (http://bit.ly/SJw7kC) 30-year-old Enchantra Lathers had been in the custody for more than 12 hours Friday in connection with a separate investigation, but never mentioned that she had left her children by themselves.

Lt. Wayne McInnis says Lathers was taken into custody about 2 a.m. Friday because she was driving a vehicle that victims said had been used in a drive-by shooting.

Lathers was booked with three counts of criminal abandonment and cruelty to a juvenile.

It was unclear whether she has an attorney.
