MONROE, La. (AP) — A Monroe man is charged two counts of attempted second-degree murder after a shooting incident involving a woman and her 2-year-old daughter on Friday night at a McDonald's on U.S. Highway 165.

Monroe police say that 21-year-old Michael Jermaine Williams was arrested at 7 p.m. while trying to leave the area on a bicycle.

Police reports say Williams went to the McDonald's to confront the victim after a disagreement over money. Williams produced a handgun and fired eight rounds at the vehicle which also contained the child, the affidavit said.

Police say Williams told investigators that he did not intend to harm the victim but wanted to stop her from driving away. He also reportedly told police that he was tired of chasing the victim.
