MONROE, La. (AP) — Monroe School Superintendent Kathleen Harris has been suspended while the Monroe City School Board conducts an investigation into the operation of the district during her tenure.

The News-Star reports school board members voted 5-2 Tuesday to place Harris on leave with pay while they look into several areas of concern.

The resolution for the investigation stipulates the areas of the investigation. They include failure to follow correct policies and procedures related to personnel, failure to timely and properly submit documents and outline work on the School Improvement Grant, failure to provide accurate and timely budget information to the board.

Harris' attorney, Wesley Johnson, questioned the expense of the investigation, possible litigation and the board's choice of attorney to conduct the investigation.
