As Louisiana is trying to come up for air after a catastrophic weather event, we are just now finding out exactly what happened. I don't know about you, but this feels a lot like a hurricane without the wind.

Meteorologists are calling it a 'Monsoon Depression', and according to NOAA’s Weather Prediction Center that is 'a sheared inland tropical depression', which of course, has caused up to 20 inches of rain being dumped on us in a very short amount of time.

This unusual meteorological event is a low pressure system that has a lot of moisture, probably coming from the Caribbean, which came together as a tropical weather system. A perfect storm, but without the added cache of a name. An area of low pressure which simply stayed put, and didn't move.

I guess it's comforting to know that even the weather guys are puzzled by this crazy once in a decade weather catastrophe. Be safe out there, ya'll!
