More Of Bonnet Carre Spillway To Close

The final open bays of the Bonnet Carre Spillway that dumps Mississippi River water into Lake Pontchartrain were closed this morning by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  More than 300 bays were open at one point to keep river levels from growing to such heights as to result in severe flooding from the swollen river in the New Orleans area.
