Morgan City Man Alleged To Have Shaken Son

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office says 18-year-old Gregory Marcus Parker was arrested on a warrant for second degree cruelty to juveniles.

The Sheriff's Office received a call from a physician with Children's Hospital in New Orleans on May 2 after a child was brought in with injuries.

The physician reported to deputies that a 3 and 1/2 month old male infant has injuries consistent with shaken baby syndrome.

An investigator says through interviews with the parents and family, they determined the child's injuries happened while the baby was in the care of Parker, the father of the child.

The infant suffered neurological damage and is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

Parker was brought in for questioning regarding the case and was subsequently arrested on the warrant. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration.
