The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office says a detective tracked down a burglary suspect after the stolen items were pawned.

The man wasn't hard to find.  He was already in jail.

A detective assigned to a January 2015 burglary case from the Siracusaville area developed 54-year-old Melvin Sylvester as a suspect after he found some of the stolen items at a local business.

The detective went to that business, a pawn shop, and discovered that Sylvester was the man who pawned the items.

The St. Mary Parish inmate was arrested on charges of possession of stolen things and theft.
