Morgan City Man Booked For Armed Robbery, Shooting

A Morgan City man has been arrested following a Saturday morning shooting and armed robbery.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff's spokeswoman Traci Landry reported deputies arrested 24-year-old Dion Maize only hours after he allegedly robbed several people at a residence in Amelia at around 6 a.m. this morning..

One male victim was treated at Teche Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He has since been treated for his injuries and released from the hospital.

Detectives located and arrested Maize at a residence in Morgan City at approximately 10:15 a.m. He was charged with one count each of armed robbery and attempted first-degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
