A Morgan City man was killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista Thursday morning.

According to Master Trooper Brooks David, 74-year-old Ed Francis of Morgan City was killed when the the driver of the Buick LeSabre that he was riding in failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by pickup truck.

Seventy-six-year-old Robert Francis, the driver of the Buick, and another passenger were transported to Teche Regional Hospital with minor injuries, but Ed Francis later died at the hospital from critical injuries sustained in the crash.

It is not yet known if impairment was a factor in the fatal crash.  Routine toxicology samples were taken from Francis and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Sixty-year-old Preston Broussard, driver of the pickup truck, was given a chemical breath test and was found to not be impaired.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
