A 22-year-old woman in Evangeline Parish has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of her 15-month old daughter.

Capt. Mike Perry of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office said Ayla Lynch of Turkey Creek put rubbing alcohol down her daughter's throat.

“Miss Ayla Lynch had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend at which point, unfortunately, she took out her anger and aggression towards her little 15-month old daughter,” Perry said.

Lynch’s daughter, Brooklyne Mann, died in April, but Perry said completed toxicology report helped lead to an arrest this week.

“At that point we brought the mother in for questioning,” Perry explained. “After several days of questioning her and other people that (were) at the residence, she finally broke down and admitted what she had done to her daughter.”

Perry says Lynch was under the influence of Lortab and methamphetamine at the time of the crime.
