BAKER, La. (AP) — A woman was arrested for leaving her three young children in a car unattended in a store parking lot.

The New Orleans Advocate reports 32-year-old Tesha Lee Thomas went to a Wal-Mart Saturday, leaving her 7-year-old, 20-month-old and 4-month-old inside her vehicle with no air conditioning and the windows rolled up.

A witness who dialed 911 told police she estimated it was about 30 to 45 minutes from the time she first saw the children to the time she called police.

Officers say the 4-month-old child had been screaming and the diaper was soaked.

Officers contacted Thomas inside Wal-Mart. Thomas says she had only been inside the store for 15 minutes.

Thomas was booked on three counts of desertion. It is unclear if she has a lawyer.
