Louisiana State Police say a man was killed on Highway 3177 yesterday after he lost control of his motorcycle and drifted into the path of a St. Martin Parish bus.

Trooper Brooks David says 47-year-old Dennis Labbie of Breaux Bridge was thrown off of his motorcycle after the collision.

No one on the bus, including the bus driver Donald Stelly of Breaux Bridge, was injured as a result of the crash.

While Labbie was taken to a hospital yesterday, he was pronounced dead there.

State Police say bus driver Stelly showed no detectable signs of impairment, but he did submit to routine chemical tests.

The crash remains under investigation.

Trooper David says State Police encourages all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course. More information can be found at http://www.lsp.org/motorcycle.html.
