A Jeanerette man is dead today after a crash on Highway 14 at Leleux Road last night.

State Police report that Michael Dooley was westbound on Highway 14 yesterday evening when he turned his truck into the path of 42-year-old Berwick Rhine's motorcycle.

Rhine was thrown from the Harley Davidson and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberia Parish Coroner's Office.

State Police report Rhine was not wearing a DOT approved helmet.  Dooley was wearing a seat belt, and he was not injured.

Dooley was taken in for breath test, and the results were that he was not impaired.

The crash is still being investigated.

Louisiana State Police wants motorists to remember to share the road and be on the look out for motorcycles.  They also remind drives to remember to use caution while making turns off of roadways and pulling into driveways.
