State Police say a drunk driver, who is now facing a fourth offense DWI, is responsible for a fatal accident in Vermilion Parish over the weekend. Trooper Stephen Hammonds says 52-year-old Gregory Menard of Abbeville attempted to pass several vehicles in a no passing zone and struck another car head-on. Hammonds says the driver of the other vehicle, 23-year-old Emily Landry of Lafayette, is in critical condition at a local hospital. He says a passenger in Menard's car, 55-year-old Kenneth of Menard of Abbeville, was pronounced dead at the scene, as he was not wearing his seatbelt. Gregory Menard sustained moderate injuries in the crash. Hammonds says Gregory was arrested for a fourth offense DWI and vehicular homicide in connection with this fatal crash on Highway 82.
