A man who is a suspect in the 2010 death of University of Louisiana Lafayette student Kenneth Donnelly Jr has been sentenced in a unrelated case.

Prosecutors say 23-year-old Ian Trahan, one of two men suspected in Donnelly's death, was sentenced to five years in prison and five years of supervised released for being in possession of Xanax.

Trahan will also serve a concurrent six month prison sentence because he was found guilty of possession of marijuana.

Trahan and Wayland Guillory are each facing a first degree murder charge in the November 2010 beating death of Donnelly.
