A Scott woman is wanted for the murder of an infant after she and her deceased newborn daughter both tested positive for high levels of methamphetamines.

The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office is searching for 26-year-old Katie Elizabeth Chriceol who was indicted on May 14 by a grand jury for the second degree murder of Tailor Elizabeth Edmond.

According to sheriff's spokesperson Maxine Trahan, law enforcement was contacted by a Lafayette Hospital regarding the death of a newborn. Investigators learned that Chriceol had gone into labor at an Acadia Parish residence. Once the ambulance arrived, the newborn went into cardiac arrest and later died at the hospital.

Assistant District Attorney Jack Nickel presented the case before a grand jury that indicted the suspect.

Now, the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help in locating Chriceol, whose last known address was 100 block of Coyote Run in Scott. If anyone has any information of her whereabouts, they are asked to call the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office at (337) 788-8700.
