NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Possible tornadoes and other high winds have damaged buildings from central Louisianainto southwest Mississippi, cutting power to thousands of people — at least 14,000 in Louisianaand 5,000 in Mississippi.

But no serious injuries had been reported by Tuesday evening.

Pearl River County's emergency management chief says a dozen homes were damaged in McNeill, north of Picayune.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office was checking reports of possible tornadoes at the north and south ends of the parish. Alexandria police say winds damaged about eight buildings.

Cleco Corp. says about 9,000 central Louisianacustomers lost power. Entergy Corp. reports about 5,000 outages in Louisianaand about 5,000 in Mississippi.

Donald Jones of the National Weather Service in Lake Charles says trees were reported down in every parish in his region.
