One of the true treasures of Louisiana is the annual Christmas Festival of Lights in Natchitoches, which runs through January 6, 2017. This fun family event, celebrating 90 years, has so  much Christmas spirit spilling over and around the beautiful Cane River that runs through downtown Natchitoches.

Not only are there over 300,000 twinkling Christmas lights, but 100 plus set pieces on the river, entertainment, tours, food, music, shopping, fireworks, and yes, even Santa. And the best part is, the lights remain up and festivities continue for a whole month.

Natchitoches is just a quick 2 hour trip up I-49 N, but it's truly like going back in time, and the Festival of Lights is celebrated all throughout this beautiful and historic community. Check out the schedule of events, because you still have time to make a holiday road trip with the family for some special Louisiana Christmas cheer.
