Angel Rodrigue, first grade teacher at Milton Elementary, has been honored by education literature provider Booksource to purchase a horde of leveled reading materials for her classroom.

Rodrigue was chosen from hundreds of teachers nominated for this award as one of the five award recipients, according to Elette Meaux, local Booksource representative.

Rodrigue was nominated for the award by Stephanie Bordelon, Lafayette Parish School Specialist English and Language Arts specialist.

"Mrs. Angel Rodrigue is most deserving of an award for purchasing leveled text for her classroom," Bordelon said. "Angel is one of the most dynamic, dedicated, child-centered teachers I have ever had the pleasure of working with in my career. Her devotion to ensuring every student in her classroom makes a year’s growth in a year’s time is the standard under which she operates."

In addition to winning the award, Rodrigue will be featured during Teacher Appreciation Week on the Booksource blog Booksourcebanter.com with an individual post dedicated to her.
