National Parks.  The splendor.  The breathtaking views.  The ability to take your family on a vacation to the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone or The First State National Monument.

Now I heard you say, what is that third thing there?  Well, that is what most people, myself included would say, but President Obama apparently knows where it is.  That's why he put it on a list of places that he has decided needs to be protected and funded by the National Park Service.  The list also includes the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument in New Mexico, the Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument in Ohio, the San Juan Islands National Monument in Washington State and a monument having to do with the role of Harriet Tubman in the Underground Railroad in Maryland.

People in those areas are saying that they welcome the designations and say that they will bring tourists and much needed dollars to those areas.  Yeah, because there are so many people that want to visit the Buffalo Soldiers National Monument in Ohio.  I'm originally from the Buckeye state and I have no idea where this thing is, let alone people in other areas.

The sequester was bringing cuts to the National Park Service and they are already complaining that they were going to have to cut people and services at the parks.  Now, they may have to do it more because these things need money to take care of them.

This is something you see time and again from President Obama.  No thought for the impact of his actions.  He just decides and the rest of us have to clean up the mess.  That has reflected in greater problems like Obamacare, but also in things like this.

On the other hand, if we were to think like the Commander-In-Chief, then maybe we are missing the boat.  Maybe we should have him declare that the corner of Ambassador Caffery and Johnston is really an historical site that needs national protection.  Or how about Parc International as a place of understanding of all cultures on a national park registry?  According to the thinking of those that are getting these things, that would bring in instant tourist money just because people are apparently stupid enough to want to travel to places that are protected by the government just because they are and not because they especially want to go there.

Someone please tell me when the adults will get back in Washington to run this country.  Decisions like this lack any depth or understanding of what kind of money this will take.
