Some public vehicles in Lafayette will soon be running on an alternative fuel source.  Two fueling stations are being built at this time.

Officials say the city is finishing up work on two fueling stations for new natural gas buses and at least 40 government vehicles. The first fueling station will open up at the parish's public works facility on University Avenue by next fall. The second facility is currently under construction by Apache Corporation. Supporters of natural gas say the fuel is cleaner and cheaper than gasoline.
