NBC reporters are not exactly thought of as asking President Obama the hard-hitting questions.

Take Savannah Guthrie, for instance. She has taken a lot of heat for her network interview that aired before the Super Bowl on Sunday. Those at the Media Research Center (who released this video) say she deserved the heat for “the softball questions she asked” to President Obama in that interview.

But, in this one-on-one interview for the “Today” show, she challenges the President on his approach to foreign policy. She begins by giving him “critics say” questions, but then follows up with questions of her own.

Now, interviewing the President is a huge responsibility and can probably seem daunting, especially when you know the questions you will ask will rub him the wrong way.

Did Guthrie handle the interview correctly and conduct herself respectfully?
