Carencro officials have dedicated a new $4.5 million water treatment plant that will double Carencro's water capacity. The plant, designed by Fenstermaker and Associates and built by Core Construction Group, is considered a state-of-the-art facility that should meet the city's needs for decades.

Mayor Glenn Brasseaux said the new two-million-gallon-a-day plant was designed to allow that capacity to be easily increased to four million gallons, should the need arise.
