New Congressional Map Could Pit Boustany Against Landry
The special legislative session on redistricting is over and a new congressional map has been approved.
It puts Republican Congressmen Charles Boustany and Jeff Landry in the same district. UL-Lafayette Political Science professor Pearson Cross says if the two seek re-election next year, Boustany has strong support from Lafayette and the Lake Charles areas, while Landry has the support of the Tea Party. Cross says even though he believes Boustany has the upper hand, Landry would have a shot if he raised enough money and highlight the differences between him and Boustany. The Congressional remap still needs approval from the federal justice department.
