NEW IBERIA, La. (KPEL) -- A New Iberia man is facing charges of aggravated battery following an alleged stabbing Tuesday night.

According to Capt. Ryan Turner with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, the 47-year-old male victim told police that he "had been cut during an altercation."

The victim was allegedly confronted by the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Lee Fowler, who brandished a knife and stabbed him in the head, Turner said.

Fowler fled into a nearby field, Turner said, and police arrested him on the aggravated battery charge as well as an outstanding warrant for monetary instrument abuse.

The victim received only minor injuries and was treated at the scene, Turner said.
