New Iberia Man Arrested After Altercation

Police in Iberia Parish arrested a man Saturday who is accused of striking a man during an argument.

According to sheriff's deputies, police were called out to a location on Spencer Loop, where they found the 49-year-old victim lying on the ground. Witnesses said the victim and 23-year-old Craig Louviere were engaged in some kind of argument.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was listen in serious condition.

Louviere, who had fled the scene before police arrived, was arrested and charged with second degree battery.
