A New Iberia man was arrested yesterday morning on five counts of oral sexual battery and six counts of forcible rape.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office says they began investigating 63-year-old Sidney Istre of New Iberia on May 24th after allegations came to light that the man had sexual contact with a 6-year-old boy on multiple occasions between 2001 and 2003.

The detective heading up the case also says he found evidence of another incident involving another male victim in 2003.  The boy was 12 at the time.

Istre is alleged to have committed the molestations during fishing trips with the children in the Franklin area.

Istre is already a convicted sex offender who was convicted in 2005 of indecent behavior with juveniles.

He turned himself into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville when he learned there were warrants out for his arrest.
