New Iberia Man Dies In Crash

A man dies in a horrific crash. Trooper Stephen Hammons says early this morning around 4:30 AM, Brae Schaubert of New Iberia was leaving a private driveway on LA 14 when he lost control of his motorcycle. The motorcycle rolled on its side and Schaubert fell off. Hammons says Schaubert was not wearing a helmet. Jhordi Henderson of Abbeville was driving his car on the road and did not see Schaubert lying in the middle of the road and hit him with his car. Then, and 18 wheeler behind Henderson didn’t see Schaubert and hit him as well. Schaubert died on the scene. Henderson and Willie Morgan of Erath, the driver of the 18-wheeler, were not injured. Troopers suspect Schaubert was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Authorities are analyzing toxicology samples from all three drivers.
