The United States Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana, Stephanie Finley, says a New Iberia man was sentenced this week to 9 years in prison for being in possession of child pornography.

U.S. District Judge Patricia Minaldi handed down the sentence to 32-year-old Jason Daniel Scott.

Scott was also sentenced to supervised release for the rest of his life, and the judge also ordered that Scott register as a sex offender.

Law enforcement officials seized Scott's computer in October of 2010 from his Lafayette Parish home.

Detectives say Scott had been using an internet file sharing service to download child porn.
