(KPEL) — A 19-year-old New Iberia man has been arrested on charges he stole items from a Port of Iberia business, then sold those items.

Capt. Ryan Turner, a spokesperson for the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, says detectives learned Ben Kelone allegedly stole the oilfield equipment worth more than $20,000 from Louisiana Blasting on July 9. Turner also says Kelone sold that equipment to local scrap yards.

A 13-year-old was with Kelone when he stole the items, Turner says.

Kelone has been charged with four counts of felony theft and one count of delinquency of a juvenile.
