Any smoke that residents may see coming from vents, manholes or holes in the ground is NON TOXIC and creates NO FIRE HAZARD. Smoke should not enter homes.  If smoke does enter a home, the resident should open doors and windows to ventilate the house, and leave the premises until the smoke dissipates. Smoke entering a home usually indicates a leak in the household plumbing, However, dry sewer traps may allow smoke to enter through drains.  To eliminate this problem, residents should run water into all drains regularly to prevent traps from drying out.
